The Fabrication department has a Stainless Steel section as well as a Mild Steel section. Our Fabrication team performs a lot of work for Northfield Engineering’s In-house departments such as Municipal Support, Agri Support, Alpha Stores, Industry support, Cool it and Waikato. We carry out various tasks for them such as The Afri Scale Arches and Platforms, Feeder Bins, Ice Banks and 850 litre and 450 litre geysers on the dairy farms which these divisions service. We also service Aspen Pharmaceutical with custom-made trolleys designed and built by us.
The Fabrication team has also assisted Rockwood Rotary with the bales used on the Rotary Milking Tables. We fabricate pipe runs in all sizes from 100 mm to 350 mm Nominal Bore for pumping sludge from a sump. We manufacture the platforms for the separators Rockwood supplies to the dairy industry. We also manufacture pump bases and mount these pumps and the motors for the Pump Sales division.

The Northfield Engineering Fabrication Department is in the throes of upskilling its staff, specifically the welders, to include all coding that is required for welding to ASME IX. This will include all disciplines and the associated skills for SMAW (Stick), Mig and GTAW (Tig) welding as the diversity of our clients necessitates this growth. The development and application of a Quality Management System, according to ISO 3834, is also currently underway. It is being spearheaded by the Industry Support Quality Control Coordinator.
